What is 4-H?
4-H is the world's largest youth-serving organization open to ages 5-19. Kids have FUN while running the show! Over 200 hands-on projects are offered from crafts, gardening, guide dogs and horses, to robotics, computers, cooking and outdoor adventure. Adult volunteers guide and support youth as they learn by doing. Families spend quality time together doing activities and community service. Kids learn public speaking, organization, teamwork and responsibility in their clubs. 4-H Youth become great leaders, model citizens, and are prepared for life's challenges. 4-Hers pledge their heads to clearer thinking, their hearts to greater loyalty, their hands to larger service and their health to better living. 4-H grows strong kids, strong families, strong communities and strong countries. How old do I have to be?
The Humboldt County 4-H program is open to youth ages 5 to 19 years.
I don't live on a Ranch. Can I still be a member of 4-H?
You can be a member of 4-H no matter where you live. There are a number of activities that involve pets and small animals, food, gardens, woodworking, robotics, leadership, arts and craft, and many more.
How much does it cost to join?
The current member fee per year is $13.00 for each youth and the leader fee is $4.00 for each adult.
How do I join 4-H?
By contacting the Humboldt County 4-H office at (707) 445-7351, or talk to someone you know that is currently in 4-H.

The Emblem for 4-H is a green four-leaf clover with white "H's" placed on each leaf. The green is nature's most common color. It symbolizes youth, life and growth. The white represents purity. The four "H's" stand for: Head, Heart, Hands, and Health.
